The Trading Post on Chestnut street is a fairly small attraction, but a fairly noteworthy one as well, as it is the official headquarters of the United American Indians who inhabit the Delaware Valley.
The Post doubles as a very small museum, the purpose of which is to remind us of the fact that Native Americans were in the area before Penn and Franklin and the colonists. There is also a gift shop selling Indian-related trinkets, and it also serves as a gathering place for modern, urban Native Americans. Feel free to stop by and take a quick look around, but this really isn’t one of those places to mark on your map and make sacrifices to visit. |
