Description and Basic Information ::

| Philadelphia Theatre Company is Philadelphia's only non-profit professional theatre dedicated to producing regional and world premieres of works by contemporary American playwrights. Under the artistic direction of Sara Garonzik, PTC has tapped the pulse of contemporary playwriting with over 100 new American plays. Recent premiere productions of new plays include John Henry Redwood's No Niggers, No Jews, No Dogs which subsequently played Off-Broadway at Primary Stages; Jeffrey Hatcher's Compleat Female Stage Beauty which will be produced in 2002 at The Old Globe; J.T. Roger's White People (Barrymore nominated for Outstanding New Play); David Ives' Lives of the Saints (Barrymore nominated for Outstanding New Play); three-time Tony Award-winning Master Class; Bunny Bunny (Barrymore nominated for Outstanding New Play); and the American premiere of Birdy. Since 1996, PTC has received 69 nominations and 18 awards from Philadelphia's Barrymore Awards. Philadelphia Theatre Company has been in residence at the historic Plays & Players Theater since 1982. |
